As the thermometer inches south, Austin is gathering winter clothes for children in need.
The Community Outerwear Drive for Kids is accepting gently used or new winter clothes — especially coats, hats, gloves, mittens, snowpants and boots — in all children’s sizes until Oct. 17. Drop off locations are the Austin YMCA, 704 First Drive NW; the United Way of Mower County, 301 North Main St. Suite No. 6; Accentra Credit Union, 400 Fourth Ave. NE; US Bank, 301 North Main St.; and Usems Auto, 703 17th Ave. NW.
Donated items should be clean, in good condition and suitable for Minnesota winter weather. Cash donations are also needed.
Those with children in need can register by Oct. 19 at the following locations: United Way, 507-437-2313; Semcac, 433-5889; Salvation Army, 437-4566; Parenting Resource Center, 437-8330; YMCA, 433-1804; Welcome Center, 434-2863; or CTS, 437-2827.
