Minnie Bentzin

Minnie Kate Rieken was born May 27, 1938, in Sargeant, Minn., to Micheal and Kate (Wiebrand) Rieken. She was the youngest of 13 children. After attending school in Elkton, Minn., through the Eighth grade, she stopped her schooling to help take care of the family. Minnie met Frank Bentzin in the spring of 1957 where he was playing in a band in Taopi, Minn. On May 9, 1958, she and Frank married in Mason City, Iowa. They had 47 years together before Frank passed away in 2003.

Minnie worked as a home health aide and a housekeeper off and on until 1980. She then stayed home and took care of her family. Minnie loved music, especially old-time country. She enjoyed watching her sons race, and playing cards with her daughters and sons-in-law. Minnie was able to spend a lot of time with her grandchildren.
