Looking ahead to the fall season

Published 5:44 pm Saturday, September 1, 2012

As we put memories of summer travel behind us, we can now look forward to a full fall and holiday schedule.

•Sept. 6-7: The musical, “Hello Dolly” at the Fireside Dinner Theater at Fort Atkinson, Wis. This theater has produced professional Broadway shows for 35 seasons. This theater has been a long-time favorite of our travelers. The Signature Buffets are like no other. There is seating in a special area prior to the show that adds to the ambiance. Time is allowed to visit their quaint shops prior to the show.

The second day we will visit the Swiss community of New Glarus, Wis. A city tour including Swiss cows decorated on store-fronts, add to the charm of old-world traditions. An authentic Swiss lunch with entertainment is sure to highlight the visit.

Those interested can take a marsh tour for $6 with a step-on guide. We will see how the cranberries are grown and finally taken to the Ocean Spray plant for sorting. The festival is celebrating its 40th year this year. We will see the largest Cranberry Whoopie Pie, which weighs more than 1 ton on the day we will be attending.

We will be departing at 7 a.m. with a return time of about 7:30 p.m. All departures are from the southwest corner of the Wal-Mart parking lot.
