Edith Forland, 90, of Ostrander, Minn., died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Edith Blanche Forland was born April 6, 1922, to Charles and Bertha (Clary) Lemon in York Township in Fillmore County. She was baptized and confirmed at Satersdahl Lutheran Church and attended country schools through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Burton Forland at the parsonage in Lime Springs, Iowa, on Oct. 16, 1943, and to this union four children were born. Edith worked at LPC in LeRoy for a short time but was a homemaker all her life. She was a great cook, she enjoyed hearing and telling a good joke and enjoyed square dancing with her husband. She also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with the Beaver Township Ladies and the family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edith was a member of the Tenderfoot Square Dancing Club and was a Charter Member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Burton Forland of Ostrander; four children, Mary (Don) Brumm of McFarland, Wis., Charles (JoAnn) Forland of Spring Valley, Minn., Carrol (Dan) Cartney of LeRoy, Minn., and Craig (Ardis) Forland of Zumbrota, Minn. Seven grandchildren, Ryan (Angela) Forland, Reid Forland, Josh Rudlong, Joel (Sarah) Rudlong, Matt (Heather Price) Forland, Jennifer (Phil) Smith and Laura (Tim O’Connell) Forland and five great-grandchildren; Carter O’Connell, Hadleigh Forland, Magnus Rudlong, Soren Rudlong and Jasper Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Edith B. Forland will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander with the Rev. Herman Bakker officiating. Burial will take place at the Ostrander Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at the Church and will continue on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.
