A vehicle test drive ended quickly Wednesday night when a drunken driver allegedly ran his Toyota into a for-sale 1998 Ford truck.
Police arrested Michael Klapperick, 48, of Austin, after he allegedly swerved his Toyota across lanes and struck the Ford truck that a 36-year-old Austin woman was test driving. According to the police report, Klapperick was arrested for third-degree DWI, driving after revocation, open bottle and no proof of insurance.
The report adds the woman looked over the Ford truck at a gas station at the 3400 block of Oakland Avenue W, was leaving the parking lot and was struck. While she was uninjured, Klapperick injured his arm and was taken to the Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin.
Klapperick was then taken to the Mower County jail and formal charges are pending a chemical test.
