Dixie J. (Mrs. Elmer “Bud”) Mytten, 90, of Wabasha, formerly of Austin, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Wabasha.

She was born April 8, 1922 in Greybull, Wyo., the daughter of Elmer and Viva (Couding) Aebischer. She was a graduate of Austin High School. She and Bud married February 20, 1942 in Waseca. Bud worked at Geo. A. Hormel Co. in Austin and Dixie was a homemaker. They lived in Austin until moving permanently to Wabasha in 2001. They had vacationed near Wabasha since 1960.

She enjoyed playing cards, baking and spending time with her family. In her earlier years she enjoyed bowling, boating and fishing.

Dixie is survived by her husband, Bud Mytten, Wabasha, Minn.; children and their spouses, Lynn Mytten, Wabasha, Minn., Sandy and Bill Zeimetz, Kenosha, Wis., Larry and Jean Mytten, Wabasha, Minn., Randy and Diann Mytten, Wabasha, Minn., eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Jess and Jerry Bootenhoff, Rosharon, Texas; sister-in-law, Karen Brown, Custer, S.D.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Abbott Funeral Home in Wabasha with the Reverend David Knox officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Austin. Casket bearers will be Rylee Holst, Travis Mytten, Brett Zeimetz, Jim and Denny Bergan, Steve Rehnelt, and Mark Cox. Honorary bearers will be Dustin Mytten and Scott Zeimetz. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
