An Austin man who allegedly broke into a home and assaulted a woman on July has pleaded not guilty.
Darren Yahudah Thompson, 25, pleaded not guilty Thursday in Mower County Court to first-degree burglary and domestic assault, both felonies.
According to the court complaint, on July 5, the victim would no longer let Thompson in her home; however, Thompson allegedly kicked in the door and hit the woman in the face. A friend of the victim called 911, and Thompson allegedly fled when he saw her on the phone. Police were not able to find Thompson, as he allegedly hopped a fence and was gone from the area. They arrested him last week.
Police noticed a welt on the right side of the victim’s face, as well.
Thompson has a pretrial set for Sept. 21. He is held in the Mower County jail on $100,000 bail.
