Ruth M. Hughson, age 67 of Austin, died Monday Aug. 27, 2012, at her home.

Ruth Mavis Joseph was born Oct. 14, 1944, in Austin to Harvey and Pauline (Halverson) Joseph. She grew up in Austin and remained a lifelong resident, graduating from Austin High School in 1962. On June 27, 1964, Ruth married Gary Hughson in Germany. The couple had two children, and then later divorced. After the children were grown, Ruth worked at ABC Bingo. She loved spending time with grandchildren, going to lunch with friends and reading.

Survivors include her children, Dawn Hughson and Jeff (Angie) Hughson, both of Austin; five grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hailey, Mackai, Brynn, and Allie; brother, Harlan Joseph of Kentucky; two sisters, Marilyn (Jack) Newman and Linda (Les) Hemann both of Austin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Pauline; three brothers; one sister; nephew, Glenn Joseph; and niece, Mary Thompson.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at Worlein Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
