Jerry and Evie Mohrfeld were among the guests in Washington D.C. who recently attended the Marine Retirement Ceremony of Lt. General Dennis Hejlik.

Hejlik joined as an enlisted man and had many assignments and commands during this time. Some of the duties of this Three-Star General include chief of staff/SOOP at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, company commander at Camp Pendleton, Calif., commanding general at Lejeune, N.C., 1986 Dessert Storm in Kuwait, Iraq, and most recently in Germany.

Many special events were planned in his honor for the many family and friends who came for this occasion. To highlight the occasion, the U.S. Drum and Bugle Corps performed with more than 400 Marines.

The Guests also had a special invited to tour the White House. Hejlik and his wife, Sandy, are from Garner, Iowa, and relatives of Mrs. Mohrfeld. It was of special interest for Mr. Mohrfeld as he has served three years as a Marine with a tour of duty in Japan, Semper Fidelis.

While in Washington D.C., the Mohrfelds visited with U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., at her Friday Morning Minnesota Coffee.
