Frances Pauline Losey, 93, of Adams, Minn., died Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
She was born in Bloomfield Township in Fillmore County on Dec. 11, 1918, to Carl and Mildred (McClary) Goodwinson. She attended country grade school and Spring Valley High School. On Aug. 7, 1937, she married Raymond Losey in Preston, Minn. They had three daughters, Angela Rae Losey (Steve Farnsworth) of Gwinn, Mich., Shara Louise Himle and Debra Lynn Losey, both of Adams, Minn. They resided in Spring Valley, Minn., before moving to Austin and later a farm near Brownsdale, Minn. In 1967, Raymond died in a farm accident. Frances moved to Duluth and worked at St. Mary’s hospital until she returned to the Austin area and worked at several nursing homes as a cook, retiring from Grand Meadow Nursing Home in 1983. The last 28 years were spent in Adams where she belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Winona Council of Catholic Women and the Adams Nursing home Auxiliary.
Frances enjoyed spending time with friends and family and also the loving companionship of her dog Mitzi and her cat Lucy. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking and playing cards.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond; brother Paul Goodwinson of Waterloo, Iowa; and grandson Steven Farnsworth of Gwinn.
She is survived by three children, 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren, long time friend and sister Shirley Lewison and husband Gene Lewison and nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. There will be visitation at the church for one hour before the service on Tuesday morning. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Austin. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are preferred to the family or to the donor’s choice.
