The county board could have more answers for the future of Health and Human Services by the end of the month.

The six counties still involved in the Southeastern Minnesota Human Services Redesign are planning to gather with the commissioners from each county Aug. 30.

The officials will discuss their visions for merging the human services departments of the six counties, particularly “best management practices” or how the counties would balance mandated and preventative services.

Mower County’s commissioners can then decide whether to continue.

Decisions don’t have to be made that day.

“You may find out from that meeting their vision is not your vision; you may find out it is,” Oscarson told the board.
