Dan Kubicek

Another Austinite is the latest to join the e-book publishing scene.

First-time author Dan Kubicek, writing under the pseudonym Dan Allex, was born and raised in Austin. After retiring from 40 years as a pharmacist, Dan started writing his first mystery novel, “Flashdrive,” in 2010.

He had always loved reading mystery novels in his free time, but had not always been able to find the type he was looking for. He decided to start telling a story about an older, retired investigator with an interest in crime solving and a knack for being in the right place at the right time. The story expanded into a full-fledge novel, and Kubicek prides himself in being able to weave in some lighter moments of Midwest humor as the mystery unfolds.

“Flashdrive” is a tale about how common sense and perseverance, with a little luck, can prevail. These attributes helped Dan get his book published on www.smashwords.com after more than a year of receiving denials from a number of publishers. “Flashdrive,” and other Dan Allex mysteries are available through all major e-books distributors.

Dan’s second e-book in the series, “Hoodoos,” will be available this October. A sample of his works is available at danallex-com1.webs.com. “Cedar Breaks,” the third mystery in the series, is coming summer 2014.
