WOODBURY — Police say one person is dead after a standoff at a hotel in Woodbury.
Officers were called to the Red Roof Inn about 1:10 a.m. Friday. Responding officers found a disturbance in one of the hotel rooms. Police say while officers were investigating, someone fired a gunshot and three officers returned fire.
One person was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul and later died. That person has not been identified. Authorities haven’t said whether the victim was shot. Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension spokeswoman Jill Oliveira says the person who died was not an officer.
The three officers who fired their weapons will be placed on administrative leave.
Woodbury police say the Washington County SWAT Team took a suspect into custody about 5 a.m. One SWAT officer was treated for a minor injury during the incident. The BCA is interviewing the officers on scene and other individuals who were in the motel room.
