Washington, DC — President Barack Obama signed legislation into law Monday to make it easier for veterans to find jobs using skills they acquired through military training.
Earlier this year, U.S. Representatives Tim Walz, D-Minn., and Jeff Denham, R-Calif., introduced the Veteran Skills to Jobs Act to streamline the federal process that would allow veterans to get certified for work. The bill addresses the high rate of veteran unemployment by cutting through the bureaucratic red tape.
“Today marks a giant step forward towards promoting opportunity and prosperity for our returning veterans, while at the same time improving the efficiency of our government,” Walz said.
