Michael James Stephens, 51, of Rose Creek, Minn., passed away Sunday morning, July 15, 2012, in Austin, Minn.

Michael was born June 9, 1961, in Austin to Bernadette (Davis) Stephens. He grew up in Austin and attended Pacelli High School. After high school Michael entered the United States Army and served in Germany. On Dec. 12, 1992, he married Amy Edison at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and family. Michael especially liked riding his motorcycle, camping, running, and weight lifting.

Survivors include his wife Amy Stephens of Rose Creek; his mother Bernadette Stephens of Austin; his step-father-in-law Michael Schaefer of McIntire, Iowa; his children Lyndsey, Matthew, Luke, Jacob, and Hope; three grandchildren, Dominic, Star, and Daisy; his brother Bruce (Mary) Iverson of Austin; sisters Barbara (Chester) Gerhart, Mary (Tom) Regenscheid, Michelle (Edward Young) Williams, all of Austin; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father in law David Edison, mother in law Jean Schaefer.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, with Pastor William Odermann officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening, July 18 at Worlein Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Rose Creek, with military rites by American Legion Post No. 91 and VFW Post No. 1216. Memorials may be directed to the family.
