Maria Salinas, 80, of Austin, Minn., died Saturday, July 7, 2012, at her home.

Maria Guillermina Reyes was born April 6, 1932, in Zapata, Texas to Antonio and Ernestina (Espinoza) Reyes. She attended school in Zapata and married Reynaldo Salinas in 1955 in Yorktown, Texas. Reynaldo was a proud veteran who served in the 101st Army Airborne in the European Theatre during World War II. They moved to Austin in 1990. While living in Austin, Maria worked for the Aegean Cheese Factory for five years. Maria liked doing yard work, keeping house and cooking. They enjoyed trips to Texas and attending flea markets. Maria belonged to the Virgin of Guadalupe.

Survivors include her husband, Reynaldo, Austin; children, Clementina (Charles) Williams, San Diego, Calif., Daniel Salinas, Austin, Letisia (Santos) Molina, Pontiac, Ill., Valentino (Martha) Salinas, Dwight, Ill., Reynaldo (Darlene) Salinas, Jr., Ark., Alma Mungia, Mapleview, Minn., Fernando Salinas, Austin, Duane (Shannon) Salinas, Austin; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers; daughter, Imelda Davis in 2004; daughter-in-law, Karen Salinas in 2005; and a grandson in infancy.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2012, at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with Father Raul Silva officiating. Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is in charge of arrangements.
