An Austin man made his first appearance in court Tuesday for one charge of felony check forgery.

According to the Mower County Court complaint, Ryan Charles Ball, 27, may have stolen two checks from a home and written them to himself for $175 each.

A homeowner discovered that she was missing two checks that she did not write while she was on vacation. An officer recognized the signature on the checks from a previous check forgery case with the same defendant, and a bank cashier identified Ball as the man who cashed the checks.
