DULUTH, Minn. — A state prosecutor in northeastern Minnesota is being held in jail following a drunken driving arrest.

Carlton County Attorney Thom Pertler was arrested Tuesday afternoon on suspicion of drunken driving and booked into the St. Louis County Jail.

Law enforcement officers say Pertler was pulled over on Highway 61 as he entered Duluth following citizen reports of erratic driving. Authorities say the 47-year-old prosecutor refused to submit to a chemical test for possible intoxication.

A jailer says Pertler is unavailable for comment. An attorney was not listed in jail records.

The Duluth News Tribune (http://bit.ly/OWQMwa ) says Pertler resigned his position as adjunct instructor at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in February after coming to class following a visit to a bar.
