Letter to the Editor
On behalf of the faculty and staff at The Hormel Institute, University of Minnesota-Mayo Clinic, I would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the many people who organized and participated in the second annual Dave “Tolly” Tollefson Memorial Golf Tournament on June 18 to benefit The Hormel Institute’s world-renowned cancer research in Austin.
We especially wish to thank Peg Tollefson and family for leading the organization of this special event along with Ron Fielding, Executive Vice President of Hormel Foods Corp.
This year’s event proved again to be a highly successful and meaningful tribute to Tolly, a beloved friend to so many people in the community and a great community leader. He remains deeply missed by many.
Funds raised from this event directly fund The Hormel Institute’s cutting-edge cancer research aimed at discoveries leading to the prevention and control of this devastating disease.
The Hormel Institute’s faculty and staff are extremely grateful for the outstanding support we receive from the Tolly Tournament as well as the many others in our community who provide vital funding and encouragement to our researchers.
Our progress continues in the fight against cancer as together we share the commitment and vision of “Today’s Research, Tomorrow’s Cures.”
Zigang Dong, M.D., Dr. P.H.
Executive Director,
The Hormel Institute
