Mower County Relay for Life is encouraging more locals to start their own teams for this year’s relay.

Teams can be anywhere from five to 15 people, and can donate by either purchasing a lumina or making a pledge.

The Relay for Life will be held at the Veterans Pavilion Aug. 4-5. The festivities begin at 3 p.m., and the opening ceremony will be at 6 p.m.

There will be games, entertainment, a waterslide on Skinners Hill, auctions and plenty of food.

The evening luminaria ceremony begins at dusk, when people can light their own luminarias and read the names of the survivors and those who have died because of cancer.

The team kick-off will be June 6 at the Mower County Red Cross building at 6:30 p.m.
