Margaret (Peg) Lydia Lewison, 96, passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2012.

She was born on April 24, 1916, in Le Roy, Minn. to William E. and Katie Whiteside. Peg’s mother died when she was only 14 months old, leaving her eight other siblings to be raised by their father and her maternal grandmother, whom she loved dearly.

After graduating from Le Roy High School in 1934, she worked at the telephone office where she meet the love of her life. On Oct. 6, 1940, she was united in marriage to Stanley H. Lewison. After Stanley enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, Peg moved to Austin where she did bookkeeping for several establishments. Her last employment was the YMCA when she retired in 1986. Peg was an avid, daily reader of the Bible and an active member at the Grace Baptist Church with bible study and ladies groups. She was very strong, devoted, faithful and loyal to her church and friends.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents and eight siblings.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Stanley of Austin; three children, Craig (Debra) Lewison of Janesville, Wis., Elaine Cimino of Wheaton, Ill., and William (Bill) (Tammie) Lewison of Roanoke, Va.; five grandchildren, Chad, Jeff, Linnie, Leslie, and Nick; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Deloris and Roger Saman of Mankato, Minn.; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Brett Williams officiating. Interment will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 20, at the Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for one hour before the service.
