Jean Wakefield, 92 of Austin, Minn., died Sunday, June 17, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Home in Osage, Iowa.

Jean Luella Harris was born May 25, 1920, in Osage, Iowa, to Ura ‘Clare’ and Charlotte (Armstrong) Harris. After graduating from Osage High School in 1939, she married Sidney Wakefield on Sept. 1, 1940, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Sidney passed away on Feb. 20, 2006. Jean enjoyed being a homemaker and mother.

She had many enjoyable summers going fishing up north on Pimushe Lake and visiting relatives, spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren. A member of First United Methodist Church and formerly an active and dedicated member of Fellowship United Methodist Church, Jean also belonged to Home Extension and the Mower County Senior Center. She moved to Faith Lutheran Home in Osage three years ago.

Survivors include her daughter, Susan (John) Ryner of Rudd, Iowa; two grandchildren, Michelle (Jason) Holst of Ankeny, Iowa and Jayson (Sarah) Ryner of Nora Springs, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Josh and Ryan Holst, Jordan and Gavin Ryner; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Pat Wakefield of Dewey, Ariz., Ruth (Jon) Goldsberry of San Diego, Calif., Mary Hart of Fullerton, Calif., Ray Erdal of Maple Plain, Minn., and Irene Wakefield of Blooming Prairie. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clare and Charlotte; her husband, Sidney; a brother, Kenneth Harris; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2012, at First United Methodist Church in Austin with Pastor Marilee Benson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.worlein.com.
