AHS hires new boys hockey coach

Austin High School Activities Director Lisa Quednow-Bicker recently announced the hiring of Erik LaRock as Austin High School’s new head boys hockey coach.

LaRock, a fourth grade teacher at Nevlen Elementary school and graduate of Kasson-Mantorville High School, played high school and junior hockey as well as collegiate hockey as St. Mary’s University.

LaRock, who has coached the Packer girls golf team the past two seasons, has also coached in the Austin Youth Hockey program for the past three seasons.

“Coach LaRock has a great background in hockey, playing under some very talented coaches,” Quednow-Bickler said. “He has worked with our youth

hockey program for a number of years and has seen success with those teams. He brings a great leadership style and competitive spirit to the game of hockey. I am looking forward to continuing to work with him.”

LaRock will be meeting with parents and players on Tuesday, June 12 at 6 p.m. in Knowlton Auditorium.
