Track: Packer girls take second in Mankato East Triangular

MANKATO — The Austin girls track and field team placed second at the Mankato East triangular Wednesday.

The Packers finished with a team score of 55.5, while the Cougars took third with a 53.5 andOwatonna won the meet with a 77.

Austin freshman Carolyn Hackel won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, Madison Overby won the 800-meter run with a personal best time, and Abby Snater took first in the pole vault.

The Packers had plenty of athletes set personal bests as Rachel Quandt and Sela Fadness improved their best pole vault heights by four inches and Rachel Needham and Ochudo Cham took five seconds off their previous best 3200-meter run times.

Haley Splinter took six seconds off her previous best 800-meter run time as she finished less than a second behind Overby.
