No. 4 ranked Zumbrota-Mazeppa edged out No. 5 Blooming Prairie

BLOOMING PRAIRIE — The Blooming Prairie softball team closed out its regular season with an 8-6 loss to Zumbrota-Mazeppa (18-2 overall) in BP Tuesday.

The Awesome Blossoms (15-3 overall) led 6-1 going into the fifth inning, but ZM, which ranked No. 4 in Class ‘AA,’ blasted three homers in the fifth inning to tie the game and hit two more homers in the seventh to win the game.

“It was a good game and we played well,” BP head coach Ali Mach said. “They just got a hold of a few. They’re a good very good hitting team.”

BP, which is ranked No. 5 in Class ‘A,’ will open the Subsection 1A West Division tournament with a home game against No. 8 seeded Glenville-Emmons (2-14 overall) Thursday at 5 p.m.
