The Modern Woodmen, a philanthropic, financial organization that helps other groups, purchased eight sugar maple trees for the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center. Vicki Legried and her husband, Steve, of the Modern Woodmen, explained the role of the Modern Woodmen to Nature Center Director Larry Dolphin and how they have been helping area organizations, such as schools, with grants for projects. Nature center employees and volunteers planted the trees last Friday among other maple trees on the property. The tree plantings are part of the Modern Woodmen’s national Plant A Tree Program, which launched in 2004.
