Marjorie V. “Marge” Lindsley, 98, of Espanola, N.M., passed away Friday, May 4, 2012.

Marjorie was born in Austin, Minn., on May 23, 1913, to Earl L. and Nellie Jennings Lindsley. She graduated from St. Augustine’s High School, then St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, Minn., and became a registered nurse in the states of Minnesota and New Mexico. She moved to New Mexico in 1947 and was active in many nurse activities. She was office nurse for Doctor Ziegler in Espanola for many years. She worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe.

Soon after she arrived to New Mexico she served on the selective service board and the Board of Nursing at the Community College in Espanola. Marjorie was insurance examiner for several companies and committee member on the White House Conference for aging. She taught at the school of practical nursing at McCurdy School and was active in various areas of the Espanola Hospital Auxillary.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Nelle Lindsley; brother, Dr. Earl L. Lindsley and wife Mary Ellen Lindsley. She is survived by her nephew, Earl Lindsley and wife Vicky of Tucumcari; great-nephews, Earl L. Lindsley IV of Las Vegas, N.M., and Sean Lindsley of Denver, Colo.; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Public visitation was held 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 7, 2012, in the Chapel of Peace of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Serving the family as pallbearers will be: Joe Trujillo, Herman Salazar and Phil Maestas; honorary pallbearers: Dr. Joe Tubb and Manuel C. Montoya. Burial will take place out of state.
