Knights end Rebels’ softball season

The Southland softball team had its season come to an end in a 3-1 loss to No. 2 seeded-Kenyon-Wanamingo (11-10 overall) in the Subsection 1A West Division semifinals in Todd Park in Austin Saturday.

The No. 6 seeded Rebels (9-13 overall) tied the game at 1-1 when Kelli Smith doubled in a run in the top of the fourth inning. The Knights bounced back and took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth when Southland couldn’t catch a line drive in left field that led to two runs.

Southland had just four hits and they struck out 12 times.
