Iona A. Grove, 102, of Austin, Minn. died Monday, May 14, 2012, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home in Austin.

Iona Everson was born on Nov. 19, 1909, to Martha and Charles Everson on a farm one mile east of Mona, Iowa. She attended school through eighth grade in Mona and graduated from Lyle High School in 1928.

After attending Minneapolis Business College and working in several offices as a stenographer, she was involved in a car accident injuring her right arm so she came back home.

She married Orlando Grove on Oct. 12, 1933, at Mona Lutheran Church. They lived on three farms south of Lyle, Minn. They also lived in Rochester, Hayfield, Preston, Chatfield, and Austin, Minn. Iona was a dedicated homemaker her entire life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orlando; her parents; son-in-law, Harry Anderson; two brothers, Lloyd and Kenneth; and her sister, Erlis Libersky.

She is survived by her children, Marlene Anderson of Chatfield, Vern (Susan) of Austin, and Keith (Nancy) of Golden Valley, Minn. She is also survived by five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Lydia Mittag officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary for one hour before the service on Thursday. Memorials are preferred to St. Mark’s Lutheran Home.
