Dale Leon Lodness, 65, of Chandler, Ariz., died May 3, 2012.

Dale was born April 29, 1947, in Staples, Minn., to Marvin and Pearl Lodness. The family moved to Austin, Minn., where Dale graduated from Austin High School in 1964. He enlisted in the Marines in 1966 and served in Vietnam until 1970. After an honorable discharge, Dale went to work as a union carpenter for more than 40 years.

He married Judy Soewen in 1973, and later moved to Apache Junction, Ariz. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and fishing.

Dale is survived by family members in Arizona, including his wife, Judy; sons, Jason and Joshua; daughter, Cindy Shafer; stepson, Eric Marks; brothers, Mertins (Pat) Kingen of Arizona, Nathan (Carol) of Texas, David Lodness of Austin and Robin (Georgia) of Texas; sisters, Karen (Bert) Bridgeman of Austin, Judy Kingen of Austin and Jackie Allen of Wisconsin.

Dale was preceded in death by his mother and father; step sisters Dorthy Kingen and Pat Krulish; and step brother Robert Kingen.
