WANAMINGO — The Hayfield baseball team took another solid team down to the wire, but once again it fell short in a 4-3 loss at Kenyon-Wanamingo (11-6 overall) Friday.
The Vikings (4-14 overall) led 3-1 going into the sixth, but the Knights scored three runs on a passed ball, a single and an overthrow to take the lead for good.
“They’re probably going to be the top seed in our subsection and we played really well for five and a half innings,” Hayfield head coach Kasey Krekling said. “We also had some missed opportunities earlier and it seems like those always come back to haunt us.”
Hayfield pitching: Drew Streightiff (W) 6 IP, 4 H, 4 BB, 4 R, 2 ER, 3 K, 2 HBP
