Vincent R. Bisbee, 75, of Antioch, Ill. passed away Monday, April 9, 2012, at home, surrounded by his family.

Vincent was born Sept. 24, 1936, in Minneapolis, the son of the late Raymond and Ida (Lindley) Bisbee. He lived in Waukegan, Ill. and Roscoe, Ill. before settling in Antioch in 1994. Before his retirement in 1997, Vincent worked for many years as an engineer at Outboard Marine Corp. Waukegan. Vincent was a member, greeter and usher and was on the property committee, working on many projects at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Antioch. Formerly, he was a longstanding member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Waukegan. Vince was very generous with his time and talents volunteering for Catholic Charities Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed camping trips in North Dakota with his childhood and best friend Loren Berge of Osage, Iowa, fishing, restoring antique tractors, and especially spending precious time with his grandchildren, both “up north” and at home. His biggest love was his wife of 56 years Lila, whom he married Feb. 25, 1956, at Grace Lutheran Church, Austin, Minn.

Survivors include his wife Lila; two daughters, Cathy Herman of Antioch and Cynthia (Jon) Olson of Bristol, Wis.; six grandchildren, Cassondra, Robert, Amy, Brenda, Emily, and Jason; two sisters, Shirley (Art) Mumm of Elkhorn, Wis., and Connie (Galen) Lehnhardt of Newport News, Va.; brother- and sister-in-laws, Carlton (Muriel) Thomson of Austin and Yvonna Thomson of Lakeview, Mich.; and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son David, brother-in-laws Allan and Kenneth Thomson, Lila’s parents Carl (Leda) Thomson, a niece Patricia Thomson and nephews Robert and David Thomson.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 14, 2012, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 1155 Hillside Ave. Antioch, IL 60002, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin.
