Errors overcame the best of the Hayfield softball team as the Vikings lost 7-1 Monday in Byron.
“Our problem was we had six errors,” said head coach Jana Wagner. “The fourth inning (Byron) scored two runs on zero hits.”
Though Hayfield managed to tally six hits, its only run came in the second inning off of a sacrifice fly by sophomore Jessie Foster.
The Vikings fell to 3-5 on the season, and Wagner said the team needs to be more consistent.
“We need to be consistent, which we haven’t been,” she said.
The Vikings will play Kasson-Mantorville 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Hayfield.
