Pauline K. Kramer, 91, Grand Meadow

Pauline K. Kramer, 91, a longtime Grand Meadow, Minn.-area resident, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, of natural causes at the Grand Meadow Healthcare Center.

Pauline was born June 22, 1920, in Fennimore, Wis., to Rudolph and Frieda (Mutchmann) Henke, and moved with her family as a young child to rural Grand Meadow. She grew up on the family farm, attended rural schools and was employed for a few years at the Tews Hotel in Stewartville, Minn. Pauline was married on Dec. 28, 1941, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley to George G. Kramer. Following their marriage the couple moved to Pleasant Valley Township where they raised their family and farmed for many years until their retirement in 1990. Mrs. Kramer was a farmwife and homemaker and was the custodian at Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 40 years. Mr. Kramer was a life-long farmer and died on July 14, 1994.

Mrs. Kramer was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, Couple’s Club and taught Sunday school. Pauline and George drove Immanuel Lutheran Men’s Club’s “Lutheran Hour” float in area parades for many years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, milking the cows, jigsaw puzzles and word searches and time spent with her family.

Survivors include five daughters and a son, Dorothy (Lanny) Jacobson of Grand Meadow; Beverly Hanson of Grand Meadow; Audrey (Joe) Ericksen of Rochester, Minn.; Barbara (Paul) Rath of Chatfield, Minn.; Roger (Jo) Kramer of Waucoma, Iowa; and Catherine (Dave) Severson of Grand Meadow; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Lane of Gilbert, Ariz.; a brother, John (Nancy) Henke of High Forest, Minn.; three sister-in-laws, Ann Voeltz of Austin, Minn., Evelyn Henke of Rochester, Pearl Henke of Racine, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband George; her parents; three brothers, Christian, William, and infant brother Harold; and son-in-law Loren Hanson.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 20 at Griffin-Gray F.H. in Stewartville, Minn. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday morning.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Pleasant Valley Township, Minn. with the Rev. Ron Prigge officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
