Austin golfer Alex Thorson wasn’t sure he was even going to be able to compete on Tuesday, but he still finished with the Packers’ high score as they finished third at their season opening triangular in Austin Country Club Tuesday.

Thorson shook off a sickness to shoot an 84 to lead Austin, which shot a 366 as a team.

“It was pretty bad. I’ve been sick for a while and I didn’t even think I’d be able to play today,” Thorson said. “Hopefully I feel better next week and I can play better. My expectations are higher this year.”

Albert Lea won the meet with a 327.

“It is nice to get the first one out of the way, so we know what specifically we need to focus on before the next meet,” Austin head coach Chris Gogolewski said. “The boys learned a lot about their golf today, and I’m looking forward to some great improvements.”

Austin scores: Alex Thorson, 84; Isaac Christianson, 90; Cole Kroneman, 93; Tony Baudler, 99; James Snee, 101; Colin Hasley, 116
