NORTHFIELD — The Austin baseball team couldn’t make all of its hits count as it lost at Northfield (1-0 overall) 9-3 Thursday.

The Packers (0-2 overall) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning after Gabe Kasak knocked in two runs with a two-out single and Tyler Bellknap scored on a double steal, but that would be all the damage Austin would do.

Northfield put up five runs in the third to take the lead for good.

“The difference in the game was that they got clutch hit with runners on and we didn’t,” Austin head coach Troy Watkins said.
