Motorcyclist crashes with Pontiac, flown to St Marys

A Waseca man is in St. Marys Hospital after a severe crash at about 2:30 p.m. on Easter.

According to Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi and Department of Public Safety records, the Minnesota State Patrol responded to an accident at the intersection of Highway 16 and Mower County Road 14 near Grand Meadow. The DPS report says Carl Underwood, 42, was riding a 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle and rear-ended a 2007 Pontiac Vibe, which was pulling over for an emergency vehicle. The report lists moderate damage to the Pontiac, but the Harley Davidson was totaled.

According to the DPS report, Underwood is in critical condition. No alcohol was detected in anyone in the accident.

The DPS says the two people in the Pontiac, Terrance and Daniel Hahn of Charles City, Iowa, were not injured.

A Mayo One helicopter transported the injured motorcyclist to Rochester.
