Local board gamer Michael Jordal will host two tournaments at the Eagles Club of Austin, located at 107 11th St. NE.

The tournament will feature the popular terrain building game Heroscape with registration at 9:30 a.m. and tournament play beginning at 10 a.m. The Summoner Wars card game tournament will begin with registration at 3:30 p.m. and a 4 p.m. start. Each tournament costs $5.

“It is a lot of fun for people from all over to get together and play these games” Jordal said. He expects approximately 40 players from Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

The tournament also has a charity focus, which Jordal is calling “Rolls for Re-Rolls.” For each roll of paper towels players donate, up to four, they will get a re-roll token. Then, during each of the first four games, players will be able to use one token per game to re-roll one single die. The paper towels will be donated to the Mower County Humane Society.

“I had been to another tournament where they did this and I thought it would be a really nice way to give back to the community,” Jordal said.

Food will be available for purchase at the tournament, including sandwich baskets and appetizers. In addition, many prizes will be awarded, including gift certificates and more gaming supplies.

Heroscape is a turn-based miniature war-gaming system played using pre-painted miniatures on a board made of interlocking tiles that can be rearranged to form a variety of terrain patterns. It is popular with children and adults alike. Summoner Wars is a fast-playing card game in which players take on the role of powerful beings. Both games are family friendly.
