Del Anderson, 73, of Stewartville, died Friday, March 9, 2012 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Delford Dean Anderson was born March 8, 1939 in Austin, Minn., the son of Darrell and Elnora (Rud) Anderson. He graduated from Lyle High School and from Austin Junior College. Del enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge from the Army, he worked for Jostens before going to work at IBM where he worked until his retirement. Del was married to Bonnie L. Gordon on February 6, 1965 at Marshall Lutheran Church near Adams, Minn.

Del was a member of Marshall Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He enjoyed fishing and loved to go for “a drive”. He liked to join family and friends at an area diner for breakfast. Del spent a number of holidays doing volunteer work with the homeless in the Minneapolis area. He was a “big hearted people lover” and a great husband and father.

Del was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Darlene and his wife Bonnie in 2005.

He is survived by sons: Mark of Rochester, Eric of Eau Claire, Wis.; grandchildren: Eric, Jr. , Brandon, Kaitlynn and Samantha; brothers and sister: Jerry Anderson, Savage, Minn., Judy Mathison, Madison, Wis., Darvin, “Tiny” Anderson, Rochester, Marley Anderson, Austin; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012, at Marshall Lutheran Church, rural Adams, with the Rev Marggi Pleiss-Sippola officiating. Interment will be in the Marshall Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Adams Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at the church for one hour before the service on Friday.
