Brian Gerhart with Brownsdale Auto Body said his shop is committed to reducing its carbon footprint.
The auto shop — located at 103 W. Main St. in Brownsdale — switched to “envirobase high performance” coatings, an environmentally-friendly refinish product with the latest advances in waterborne technology.
“Not only is waterborne better for the environment, but it also produces a better paint alignment since the majority of auto manufacturers are using waterborne technologies,” Gerhart said. “This was a decision we made to remain compliant, plus it’s the right thing to do.”
Waterborne isn’t new to Brownsdale Auto Shop, as it has been tested in the shop since 2008, and Gerhart said the results have been impressive.
“Someday it’s all going to be mandatory, so we’re just trying to get ahead of the curve,” he said.
Gerhart said they use paint that has proven to be the best on the market, meeting the highest standards backed by a lifetime warranty.
