MASON CITY, IOWA — The Riverland baseball team had five hits in 13 innings of baseball as they lost both games of a doubleheader at Northern Iowa Area Community College (15-2 overall) by scores of 10-0 and 3-1 on the road Wednesday.
RCC (7-6 overall) was held hitless in the opening 10-0 loss in six innings.
“We didn’t’ do anything right at all (in the first game),” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “Our team batting average is horrible right now and that’s because we have a lot of freshman in the lineup. They’ve got to learn to swing at strikes instead of waiting for a pitch to be right down the middle, because you won’t see those too often.”
All of NIACC’s runs were unearned in the second game as RCC committed three straight errors in the third inning to allow three runs.
RCC’s only run of the day came when Kenny Stelter blasted a solo homerun in the top of the fourth inning.
