The vocal jazz choir from Austin High School will be featured on KSMQ-TV as part of a program to air 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8. The talented group of Austin singers will share the television stage with the national vocal group “Straight No Chaser.”

KSMQ-TV, the Austin-based PBS television affiliate, is airing a concert entitled “Songs of the Decades” performed by Straight No Chaser, which was recorded live at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, N.J. The concert is a journey through decades of the pop musical songbook. The Austin vocal jazz choir will perform from KSMQ’s studio in Austin during the two extended breaks in the concert broadcast. Ending the broadcast, KSMQ will feature one song performed by “Frequency,” the vocal jazz ensemble from Riverland Community College.

Viewers who miss the initial broadcast will have other opportunities to hear the local singers, though. The concert will be rebroadcast 10 p.m. Sunday, March 11, and noon, Wednesday, March 14.
