An Austin man was arrested for a state Department of Corrections warrant after allegedly punching out windows at his home and injuring himself Saturday evening.

Curtis Root, 24, could also face third-degree property damage and disorderly conduct charges, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger.

Krueger said police were called to Root’s home at the 100 block of 12th Street NE at about 6:18 p.m. Saturday to arrest Root, who had allegedly punched out several windows. Root had a state Department of Corrections probation warrant for his arrest as well. He was treated for wounds on his hand at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin, and Krueger said Root yelled and swore while at the hospital. Krueger said alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
