HAYFIELD — The Hayfield girls basketball team had two chances to tie the game in the last minute, but its first shot was off the mark and Alyssa Selk’s last second look was blocked as time expired in a 47-45 loss to Winona Cotter in Hayfield Monday.

Selk, a senior guard, finished with 22 points and four-three pointers.

The Vikings (9-11 overall, 3-5 HVL Gold) led by seven early in the second half but the Ramblers (12-9 overall, 7-2 HVL Gold) hit a pair of threes to ignite a comeback and they went on to lead by as many as five.

Hayfield came back to tie the game, but Cotter eventually took the lead back.
