Priscilla Magdalene Olson, 96

Priscilla Magdalene Olson, age 96, of Austin, died Saturday morning, Feb. 4, 2012, at Our House Assisted Living in Austin.

She was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Dawson, Minn., the daughter of Hans and Gunda (Hofseth) Bjornlie. She attended school in Dawson, and continued her education at the Lutheran Bible Institute in Minneapolis. During World War II, Priscilla worked as a riveter in Renton, Wash. She returned to Minnesota after the war and on Aug. 19, 1951, she was united in marriage to Irville Olson in Dawson. The couple made their home near Lyle, Minn., where Priscilla raised her family. Irville died on Jan. 27, 2001. Priscilla was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in London. She enjoyed sewing, needle work and croteching. Her faith and her family were very important in her life.

Priscilla is survived by her children, Gary (Caryl) Olson of Austin, Kathy Nornes of Moorhead and Carol (Phil) Schenck of New Ulm; seven grandchildren, Keri (Matt) Doyle, Kim Olson and her fiancé, Marc LeDuc, Leah (Josh) Wirth and Nick Nornes, David (Beth) Schenck, Michael (Jenny) Schenck, Daniel Schenck and his fiancée’ Rachel Agurkis; five great grandchildren, Aaron, Abby, Alex and Katie Schenck and Zoey Wirth; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Gunda Bjornlie; husband, Irville Olson; three brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Faith Lutheran Church in London, Minnesota with Pastor Kent Otterman, officiating. Interment will follow the service in the Deer Creek Valley Cemetery, rural Northwood, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
