ROCHESTER — The Austin girls basketball team lost at Rochester Mayo (14-5 overall, 11-1 Big Nine) 55-40 on the road Friday.

The Packers (8-10 overall, 5-7 Big Nine) came back from a 12-point deficit in the first half to tie things up early in the first half. Austin had a chance to take the lead but it turned the ball over and the Spartans hit a three to start a rally that would put the game away.

“We felt pretty good going in to the half, but then we hit a dry spell for seven or eight minutes,” Austin head coach Gary Peterson said. “Our girls played hard all game, but we’ve just got to take care of the ball.”
