Lorraine Yenish

Lorraine A. Yenish of Maple Grove, formerly of Austin, where she resided for almost 50 years, died peacefully on Feb. 8, 2012.

She was born in St. Clair, March 7, 1920.

Lorraine taught school for 40 years, 25 of those teaching fourth grade at Banfield Elementary in Austin. She retired in l980. Lorraine was an active member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, Audubon Society, YMCA exercise and walking group, bridge groups, coffee and breakfast groups. She was a volunteer for many years at the Jay C. Hormel Nature Center. She loved watching the Minnesota Twins and sports in general and was an avid fisherman. Lorraine enjoyed traveling the states and abroad, golfing, canoeing, crafts, sewing, reading, cooking and baking. We especially loved her delicious pies and breads.

In Sept, 2003, after some health problems, Lorraine moved to Rose Arbor in Maple Grove to be near her family. In June 2011, she moved to Wild Flower, the adjoining memory care building. We will miss our “Loving Auntie Lorry!”

She is survived by her brother, Bob (Irene) Yenish; nieces, Mary Lee (Tom) Kenney, Barbara Wiaderko, Amy (Ryan) Miller, Katie Kenney and McKenna Belgarde; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She is preceded in death by parents, Joseph and Nellie Yenish; siblings, Eileen, Charles and Norbert.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 9100 93rd Ave. N., Brooklyn Park. Visitation will be at the church after 9 a.m. Entombment will be in Austin at a later date.
