Joan Eileen Jacobson, 79, of Backus, Minn., died Feb. 20, 2012, in Weslaco, Texas.

Joan was born June 19, 1932, in Austin, Minn., to Warren and Florence Edwards. She was a member of the Lions International, Book Club, Seista Retirement Village Social Club and loved reading. She worked at and retired from Deluxe Checks. She was married to Donald Jacobson.

Joan is survived by her husband, Donald; son, Todd Edwards; stepson, Gary Jacobson; stepdaughter, Sheila Rice; sisters, Kay Kruger-Reidel and Barbara Schroeder; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Florence and her grandson, Ian.

Funeral services will be held at a later date. Heavenly Grace Memorial Park, La Feria, Texas, is assisting with arrangements.
