James Nystel

James Wilbert Nystel, 61, of Mapleview, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at his home peacefully with lots of family by his side.

Jim was born Dec. 6, 1950, in Austin to John and Virginia Nystel. He grew up in Mapleview and graduated from Austin High School in 1970. Jim was married in 1973 until 1991 and had three children.

Jim worked primarily in manufacturing and also attended Riverland for welding. He was a huge Vikings fan and an avid horseshoe player and enjoyed outdoor activities with family and friends. He will be missed by all.

Survivors include his daughter, Candy (John) Mills, Austin; sons, Tom (Becky) Nystel, Austin, Jeff (Michelle) Nystel, Austin; four grandchildren, Alicia, Carol Ann, Nathan, Jasmine; three step-grandchildren, Christian, Courtney, Collin; four brothers, Bob (Missy) Nystel, Rochester, Don (Mary Jo) Nystel, Lansing, Dave Nystel, Mapleview, Wayne Nystel, Mapleview; two sisters, Linda (Terry) Sprandel, Austin, Dawn (Bob) DeVriendt, Austin; many nieces and nephews that he loved very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Nystel; brother, John Nystel; good friend, Rod.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Mayer Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Monday. The family will also greet friends at the Mapleview Hall following the service.
