KASSON — The Hayfield girls basketball team had a chance to tie things up in the last minute, but their last shot came up empty as they lost 55-51 at Kasson-Mantorville (22-1 overall, 10-1 HVL Gold) Friday.
The Vikings (10-12 overall, 4-6 HVL Gold) led by five at the break, but the Komets scored the first six points of the second half.
“They’re a very tough team and they’re going to be tough to beat in the ‘AAA’ playoffs,” Hayfield head coach Fred Kindschy said. “We’re not happy with the loss, but I like the way we played tonight.”
